FC Dynamo Kyiv faced FC Vorskla Poltava away in the 2024/2025 Ukrainian Cup round of 16.
Kyivans created the first chance of the game – Mykhailenko shot from distance, but goalkeeper was there. Home sire responded with attempts by Kovtaliuk and Skliar. Andriyevskyi took a free kick, but sent the ball wide. Although Dynamo maintained possession, they were the first to concede.
Kane intercepted, moved forward, passed to Korniyenko, who found Iyede and the latter netted the ball – 1:0. Still the White-Blues equalized quite quickly. Skliar fouled against Voloshyn inside the box, referee awarded penalty and Guerrero converted from the spot – 1:1.
Dynamo continued attacking making Vorskla defend. Anyway home side players were doing that orderly and Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s men didn’t score the second one before the break.
Visitors kept pressing in the second half while home sides aimed to counterattack. Braharu attempted from distance, but Isenko parried. Iyede missed from outside the box.
Vorskla got more active later in the game. Iyede intercepted in the midfield, found a teammate, who passed to Kane and Neshcheret coped with the latter’s strike. In the following attack Iyede missed the target.
So, as there was no winner after regular time the teams proceeded to extra time.
Batsula tried to put Vorskla in front, but Neshcheret grabbed the ball after his strike. Vanat and Voloshyn had their chances, but didn’t use those. Then Neshcheret saved his team again after shot by Kane from close range.
Eventually, after a number of attempts, Dynamo scored. Isenko parried the shot by Voloshyn, but Vanat was there with a follow-up – 1:2.
Vorskla rushed forward to equalize. Perduta, Nesterenko and Kulakovskyi were close to the goal, but Dynamo coped with the threat.
Anyway, it’s 2:1 – Dynamo reach the Ukrainian Cup quarterfinal.
