| Aliyev opens the score |
Both sides demonstrated a thrilling game and were able to gain victory in this exciting encounter. The opener came in the 13th minute when Oleksandr Aliyev shot to the net from outside the area giving Dynamo the lead. Few minutes before the break Shane Robinson equalized the score from the penalty mark following El Kaddouri's foul on the Irish midfielder.
In the second half of the match the host team focused on putting the opponent under the pressure. Dynamo dominated on the pitch and tried to overpass Drogheda's defense. Later on Betão rushed into the area and was brought down by the Irish defenders. The referee awarded the penalty kick. Fortunately Milevskyy didn't waste this opportunity taking the lead for the second time. However, the visitors didn't give up and levelled again when Lutsenko's mistake allowed Graham Gartland to head into an empty net. Drogheda needed just one more scoring kick for the victory but missed good chances to make the winning goal in the final minutes of the match.
Now the Kyivers will have to face FC Spartak Moskva in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie. We hope this edifying match will be a good lesson for our team. We are also looking forward to see a totally different team in the match against Spartak.
