FC Dynamo Kyiv has signed a contract with 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder Shola Ogundana. The deal is set to last four years.
Shola was born on February 22, 2005, in Ifaki, Nigeria. He began his football journey at the Beyond Limits Academy and later joined the Alex Transfiguration Academy in Nigeria. His performances caught the attention of scouts during the Torneo di Viareggio 2022. While playing in his home country for Remo Stars, Shola agreed in April 2023 to join Flamengo on loan and in July 2024 the Brazilian club purchased his contract.
With Flamengo’s U20 team Ogundana won the Copa Libertadores Sub-20 in 2024 and 2025, being named the best player of the tournament in the latter edition, and also lifted the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup in 2024 and 2025. Overall he played 46 matches for Flamengo’s youth team, scoring 9 goals and providing 7 assists across all competitions.
In Brazil he earned the nickname “Nigerian Rocket” due to his explosive pace and aggressive wing play.
Shola made his debut for Flamengo’s first team in Brazilian Serie A on November 14, 2024, coming on as a substitute for Carlos Alcaraz in a 0:0 draw against Atlético Mineiro. He became the first Nigerian to play for Flamengo and only the third African in the club’s history.
