Andriy YARMOLENKO: “We mustnt relax as we are in for the second leg”

- We knew we should lay a certain foundation in the first leg. The whole country supported us and we couldn’t let fans down.

- What are your impressions of Slovenia play?

- They are orderly team with three of four high profile performers like Kampl and Ilicic.

- You had to calm Khacheridi down…

- Yevhen is very important both for the national team and for Dynamo, but he can’t cope with his emotions. Anyway that’s okay as he didn’t let Slovenia forwards have a lot of chances.

- Could you please describe your goal?

- I got the ball, but it wasn’t comfortable to shoot with my left, so I decided to elude defenders and fortunately that worked out.

- Was the visit of the President of Ukraine unexpected?

- We knew the President would be at the match. He thanked us for the game and said we shouldn’t relax.

- Slovenia play roughly. Did you feel that?

- Every player did his best and no one wanted to lose.

- How should Ukraine play in return match?

- We must defend orderly and use counterattacks. We know that if we hit the target Slovenia will have to score four.

- Doesn’t play-offs “curse” create psychological pressure?

- No one celebrates yet. Two years ago we also won the first leg 2:0 and thought we qualified for the World Cup, but you know what happened. That’s why we should stay calm and play orderly away.

- In the second half Ukraine had a lot of chances and the final score could have been 3:0 or 4:0…

- Slovenia needed away goal and they rushed forward, so we had space. We have fast players, so we had good counterattacks.

- Harmash had a good chance to score…

- You can’t always score as much as you want. I hope Denys will score in the next game.

- Ihor Surkis and Andriy Pavelko also came to the locker room. What did they say?

- They congratulated us on this victory. Still we all understand that it’s too soon to relax.
