In the third round of the U19 National League Dynamo Kyiv played away at the Sokil Stadium in Lviv against Epicentr from Kamianets-Podilskyi.
The start of the match was a shock for Dynamo. The Epicentr players converted virtually their very first attack. After a cross from the left flank Havura hit the post, the ball rebounded to Romaniuk, whose shot was saved by Viacheslav Surkis, but the hosts followed up with a third consecutive attempt – this time successful. Yurii Pach was on hand to finish and after a deflection off a defender the ball ended up in the back of the net.
Leading after the very first minute Epicentr focused on defending their goal, while Dynamo seized the initiative and began creating chances near the nominal hosts’ penalty area. Good opportunities in the first half fell to Pavlo Liusin, Fedir Zadorozhnyi and Kyrylo Tokar.
The second half began in the same way – with Dynamo pressing forward – and the visitors eventually got their reward, equalizing in the 54th minute. Liusin received the ball near the semicircle in front of the penalty area, surrounded by several opponents, paused and played a sharp through pass into the box for Zadorozhnyi. He controlled the ball to the right of the goal and struck accurately into the near corner — 1:1.
The White-blues gradually increased the pressure on Epicentr’s goal, forcing the hosts into a deep defensive block. Dynamo created numerous chances but the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
