In the first part of the season Olexandr Petrakov’s men were getting ready for the World Cup in New Zealand. They played four sparrings within this period of time (W-2, L-2, goal difference -4:4).
Following FC Dynamo Kyiv performers took the field in those friendlies: defenders Pavlo Polehenko (4 appearances, 1 goal) and Mykyta Burda (1 appearance), midfielders Ihor Kharatin (4 appearances, 1 goal) and Yevhen Chumak (3 appearances, 1 goal), strikers Artem Besedin (4 appearances) and Roman Yaremchuk (4 appearances).
At the World Cup Ukraine opposed New Zealand, Myanmar and USA. Our team drew against contest hosts and defeated Myanmar (6:0) and USA (3:0). In the round of 16 Ukrainians lost against Senegal on penalties.
Mykyta Burda, Pavlo Polehenko, Yevhen Chumak, Artem Besedin (1 goal), Roman Yaremchuk (1 goal) and Ihor Kharatin took part in the competition.
After the World Cup Ukraine U-20 lineup changed. In November the Yellow-Blues played friendly against Poland U-21 and won it. Five Kyivans took the field in that match: Pavlo Polehenko, Zurab Ochigava, Pavlo Lukianchuk, Orest Kuzyk and Roman Yaremchuk (1 goal).
