- Josip, what can you say about your new club? Did you communicate with any Kyiv side players before you signed the contract?
- Dynamo are a great club. They always set ambitious goals and have a lot of trophies. I’m very happy to be a part of such a great club. It’s world-famous. This year Dynamo didn’t qualify for the Champions League, but we’ll qualify for the Europa League and we’ll succeed there. Before the transfer I talked to my compatriot Domagoj Vida. He told only good things about Dynamo.
- You must remember many Dynamo players as recently you opposed Ukraine with Croatia…
- Sure, I remember that game and Dinamo Zagreb matches in Kyiv. I remember Yarmolenko since then. That’s a top level player. Any European club would like to sign him.
- You’ve already performed at the White-Blues home arena NSC Olimpiyskyi. Did you like the atmosphere there?
- I remember featuring at this stadium for Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb. There were about 50 thousand fans. It was obvious that people love football in Kyiv. That’s why I’m happy I’ll play for them. I’ll be doing my best in every game and at every training session. I hope we’ll win a lot and gladden our supporters. I’ve already won Croatian league, now I want to win Ukrainian league with Dynamo.
- How can you characterize yourself as a player?
- I like both to defend and attack. I join attacks regularly and perform crosses into the box.
- What are your expectations of work under the charge of Olexandr Khatskevych?
- The style of my new club resembles Dinamo Zagreb style. These teams aim to win every game, so their tactics is domination on the field. Dynamo head coach has explained me his demands to left back.
- Can you compare Ukrainian and Croatian league?
- Of course Ukrainian league is better, especially such teams as Dynamo and Shakhtar.
- What languages do you speak?
- I speak English a bit, but of course my native language is Croatian. Anyway, Berislav and Domagoj will be helping me until I learn Ukrainian or Russian.
- Have you already picked squad number?
- Yes, it’s 23. This number is new for me, but I hope it will bring me luck.
