Before the game Poltava side were falling only one point behind the White-Blues.
Comparing to the Ukrainian Cup match against FC Metalurh Donetsk Oleh Blokhin made two substitutions in the starting line-up. Vukojevic and Yarmolenko featured instead of Sydorchuk and Lens.

After the starting whistle it became quite clear that Vorskla would focus on defense more than on attack.
Blokhin’s men weren’t ready for that again.
33 minutes into the match Poltava side opened the score unexpectedly.
Jahovic hit the target after the long ball from Hromov. In that situation Maxym Koval left the woodwork unreasonably.
Seven minutes later Kyivans equalized the score. Oleh Husiev eluded Sapai and put a low cross into the box. Vorskla keeper Nepohodov cleared Yarmolenko’s shot, but Younes Belhanda netted the ball.
Right before the break referee awarded penalty for Vorskla after the hand ball by Vukojevic and Hromov slotted his team ahead.
50 minutes into the match Brown Ideye kicked Dallku inexplicably and was sent off.
After that the White-Blues problems with team-work became even more obvious. Never the less Kyivans scored the equalizer in stoppage time. Yarmolenko put a cross into the box, Vorskla defenders didn’t manage to clear and Lukman Haruna hit the bottom corner.
