Valencia CF fall to fifth league loss

Valencia CF suffered a fifth loss in the domestic league on Sunday, going down 3-2 at Athletic Club Bilbao.

David Villa put his side ahead as early as the second minute before Athletic midfielder Gabilondo made it 1-1 on 18 minutes following a defensive mistake. Morientes managed to restore the visitors' one-goal lead midway through the first half with a deft touch past goalkeeper Iraizoz but the host club took one more chance to level just before the break.

The second half was less eventful. The decisive goal, however, came in the last minute of the match, when Llorente added a third from the penalty spot after a foul by Fernandes.

Valencia are still fourth in the table with just one-point advantage over Villarreal CF.
