On Monday, September 1, the Ukrainian national team held a traditional open training session at Dynamo training base in Koncha-Zaspa. 23 players prepare for starting matches of WC-2010 qualifying tournament. First Ukrainians will play against Belarus (September 6, Lviv, Ukraine stadium, kick-of 20:00) and the second match will be played against Kazakhstan (September 10, Almaty, Central stadium, kick-off 19:00). Dynamo official site journalist had an opportunity to question Taras Mykhalyk during the training session.
TARAS MYKHALYK, Ukrainian international defender:
- Taras, you have worked with both Blokhin and Mykhailychenko. Who impressed you the most?
- Actually, I know Oleksiy Mykhailychenko much better, as we used to work in U-21 team. Anyway, both coaches are great.
- Did Hryhoriy Surkis announce the award fee?
- Yes, he said something about that (laughing). But you should ask him about it. However, our main task is to represent Ukraine with honour and to get as far as we can.
- What can you say about your UEFA Champions League rivals?
- What can I say? We all know that there are no weak teams at this stage. All our opponents are very strong and ambitious. It will be especially difficult to play in Turkey and in Portugal.
- Is there a favourite in the Group G?
- In my opinion, any team can win.
- How do you spend your spare time?
- Unfortunately, I don't have any spare time. We have a very hectic schedule now. So, trainings take all my time. Our match calendar promises to be even more tough.
