FC Dynamo Kyiv young forward Matviy Ponomarenko shared his expectations of the training camp after having a medical examination.
- Today you’re examined with the first team. Is it any different from what you had with Dynamo U19?
- Not really, everything’s the same.
- Do you have any health issues?
- I’ve done all the procedures and I guess everything’s fine.
- How was your vacation?
- I was with my parents, sometimes my sister paid a visit. I was just having rest for two weeks and then received a training program, so I started training. Besides I worked out at the gym.
- What was the training program like?
- It included running exercises and gym sessions.
- Where were you running?
- Outside. Was it cold? Not really, I got used to it (smiling).
- Were you also working at the training ground?
- I was. Coaches told us we can come and work anytime.
- When were you told you would go to the training camp with the first team?
- When I was on vacation. Of course I got a bit nervous, but I think I can gain a spot in the first team and I’ll do my best for that.
- Last winter you worked with the first team as well. Will that experience help you?
- I guess so. I already know what to do and I’ll try to demonstrate everything I can at the training camp.
- Do you consider friendlies as a chance to show what you can?
- Sure, every game is a motivation for a young player to show what he’s capable of. If youngsters do well at the training camp, they’ll stay with the first team.
- Did you check the teams you’ll face at the training camp?
- I just know which teams those are.
