- Until the score became 3:0 we didn’t have any problems and totally controlled the game. But then players relaxed which is what they weren’t supposed to do. Thus visitors created several chances.
I’m dissatisfied with final 30 minutes. Substitutions didn’t help. We lost control and Gent caused us troubles.
I asked players for four things: long balls, dispossession in the midfield and fast counterattacks, not to let Gent right back put crosses into the box and not to let visitors take set pieces. Until the third goal I guess Belgian side had only one corner, but then we relaxed and let them create a lot.
I congratulate our team on qualification for the Champions League group stage. We’ve had two months of hard work for this result. We aimed for that despite lots of injuries.
- What did you tell Verbic and Tsyhankov before they took the field?
- I understand players’ mentality. When the score is 3:0 they want to demonstrate what they’re capable of. I’m sure next time they’ll do better.
- Do you realize that demands will be increasing with every victory? Are you ready for that?
- That’s totally natural. I’m here to win and create the team of winners. Every victory boosts enthusiasm. I’m satisfied with this period of time. We’ve scored 18 goals. We’ve coped with our tasks although we have a lot of injured players.
Generally I’m satisfied with everything although it wasn’t easy.
