Dynamo Kyiv withstood a second-half fightback from FC Illichivets (Mariupol) to gain a 4-3 victory in their last league match before the mid season break.
Ismaël Bangoura opened the scoring in the early stages, converting a rebound after home goalkeeper had parried Tiberiu Ghioane’s shot. Another Dynamo striker, Artem Milevskyy, doubled the advantage midway through the first half and Oleksandr Aliyev made it 3-0 in the 38th minute. First-half goals from Dynamo scorers put the capital-based club in a seemingly comfortable position.
However, Illichivets managed to respond well and reduced the deficit in the second period of the match. Kryvosheenko pulled one back from the penalty spot eight minutes after restart but Ghioane soon enlarged Dynamo’s lead again. Nevertheless, Illichivets added two more goals in the dying minutes. One came through Ivashchenko and Dynamo defender Taras Mykhalyk unwittingly deflected Savin’s long shot into his own net shortly afterwards.
