Following initialing the contract with Ognjen Vukojević, which will keep the midfielder in Kyiv until 2013, Dynamo President Ihor Surkis admitted his delight. “Ognjen has been of great interest for us since last year. We had been watching him closely. Until the very last moment, I was not sure the deal will be sealed, as he attracted interest from a number of European clubs, including Celtic, Ajax and Bayern”.
The President emphasized the 24-year-old Croatian is the “kind of a player Dynamo had lacked. Playing in the midfield, he has the skills the team needs, those of dispossessing and then doing well offensively”.
When asked if further acquisitions are to be completed, Ihor Surkis said that, without giving names, one or two newcomers might join the team. “This, however, will not contradict the club’s youth policy. The alloy of experience and youth is bound to pay off dividends in the near future”.
