Dynamo Kyiv have kicked off their 2011/2012 Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw after a 17th minute Andriy Shevchenko’s equaliser earned them a point against Metalist Kharkiv at the Valeriy Lobanovskyy stadium on Sunday.
Dynamo coach Yuriy Semin fielded the same line up he did against Shakhtar Donetsk in Tuesday's Ukrainian Super Cup match with the exception of injured Lukman Haruna who was replaced by Andriy Shevchenko.
The tension mounted with less than three minutes played, after Xavier capitalised on a defensive misunderstanding between Yussuf and Diakhaté. Luckily, it did not take the White-Blues long to equalise. Andriy Shevchenko brought them level in the 17th minute, helping the ball into the net after Metalist goalkeeper Vladimir Dišljenković failed to block Oleh Husyev’s low kick.
