Today our site starts the cycle of articles about preparations of the arena for the forthcoming match.
First part is dedicated to security and stewards. NSC Olimpiyskyi director of external relations Viktor Anisimov has told about that.
- Did you believe UEFA would let the game take place in front of spectators?
- We followed the information all the time and stayed in touch with FC Dynamo Kyiv. We were getting ready for both variants – match in front of fans and behind closed doors. We hoped the outcome of this situation would be positive though it’s easier for the stadium to hold the match behind closed doors. We were happy about UEFA verdict, but we know it’s a great credit of trust.
- Did UEFA contact you before rendering the decision?
- UEFA contacted us investigating the incident. We gave all the necessary information. Besides UEFA constantly follows state of the turf and we present our reports every week.
- Has the way you hire stewards changed?
- This year we changed age limit a bit. Soon we’ll start training new stewards.Besides we have stewards, who’ve been working for us since 2012.
- What must stewards and security do when a fight starts at the stadium?
- Security must be informed by radio at once. We have control room, where security officers follow everything that happens at the stadium.
- Must stewards try to prevent fights?
- Sure, but not through the use of force. Stewards’ task is to settle conflicts peacefully. Those, who want to work at the stadium, must pass special psychological tests.
- Whom must one address when fight or another act of improper behavior starts?
- One should address steward. We have police room at the stadium. In case of violation troublemaker is being taken there for all legal procedures.
- Last season fans rushed to the field a couple of times… Can stewards and security do anything about that?
- Those were extraordinary situations that astonished football society. At first FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk reached the Europa League final which made people very emotional. Second case was the match when FC Dynamo Kyiv won the domestic title.
The thing is to stop one person rushing to the pitch we need at least four stewards. Thus when we’re talking about more than two thousand fans it means we need more than eight thousand stewards.
What we need is work with fans. Even if we put a steward next to each fan it won’t guarantee us absence of conflicts.
The only thing we could do when lots of spectators ran to the field was prevent the fight between security and fans.
Of course the turf and NSC Olimpiyskyi property was seriously damaged, but what really matters is that no one got hurt!
- How are police going to maintain order at the stadium?
- I can’t answer this question right now. We’re interested in cooperation with police as this will make people more disciplined. Still media inform police will work only outside the stadium.
Soon we’ll have a conference with the presence of UEFA, Kyiv city council, police, state emergency service, security service of the stadium and FC Dynamo Kyiv security service representatives.
