Selecção match against Germany will be the first Group G fixture. It should be mentioned that two other contestants of this group are Ghana and the USA.
The game will start at 19:00 (Kyiv time) in Salvador.
The battle-field for two teams that are considered to be among the Mundial favorites will be the Arena Forte Nova with the capacity of 51,708.
Miguel can become the second Dynamo representative, who takes the field of this stadium. Jeremain Lens did that as the Netherlands defeated Spain at this arena – 5:1.
The Portuguese are really concerned about health condition of Cristiano Ronaldo. Still Selecção leader has calmed his fans down:
“I have no health problems any more. I’ve been overcoming pain throughout my whole career. That’s my job. I’m ready for the match against Germany!”
Anyway Germany head coach Joachim Löw doesn’t consider Portugal to be the team of one player:
“Portugal is right behind us in FIFA rating. That’s not just Ronaldo team”.
Portugal manager Paulo Bento has emphasized that the best player of the world in the squad can’t guarantee the title for his team:
“It doesn’t mean that we’ll definitely win the trophy if we have the best player of the world. Anyway our first task is to get out of the group and then to fight in every match. I think that 0:1 defeat against Germany at Euro-2012 wasn’t deserved. We work a lot on tactics and I’m sure we are able to oppose Germany”.
Germany skipper Philipp Lahm is sure that the forthcoming fixture will be the key one for both sides:
“The first game against Portugal is vital. The team that loses will experience great pressure after that”.
The referee of the match will be 41-year-old Serbian Milorad Mažić.
