Ukrainian Cup round of 16. First leg. Karpaty – Dynamo. Preview

Dynamo: to resume winning run

Dynamo will have almost a week to get ready for the cup match. After the victory against FC Volyn Lutsk (4:1) Serhiy Rebrov’s men are in god mood. Often early opener becomes a passport to success. The previous game was just the case.

Kyivans’ skipper Andriy Yarmolenko is in great conditions. Vladyslav Kalytvyntsev competes worthy against wingers for the starting spot. Besides centre back Yevhen Khacheridi has finally stepped back into ranks. He’s already made one appearance in the Reserve League.

As for the White-Blues possible squad for the match in Lviv, Dynamo president Ihor Surkis has stated:

- A lot of people will be surprised by our squad for the game against FC Karpaty Lviv. Our head coach believes in young performers and I’d like to see what their true worth is on serious level. We are trying to reach some goals, but don’t actually build the team. Today we must form the team for years to come.

Round of 16 consists of two legs, but Kyivans are sure that they must achieve the necessary result in Lviv: “Coaching staff will tell us how to oppose this team. We must get up for the game against Karpaty seriously”, - informed Vladyslav Kalytvyntsev.

Andriy Yarmolenko supports him: “We’ll be getting for the game as we usually do. I watched Karpaty match against FC Metalist Kharkiv. They look worthy. The match in Lviv will be very difficult”.

Karpaty: thorny way to success

Karpaty are going through tough times. After seven UPL matchdays they are 12th in standings with five points. Still one should take into account that Lviv side has been deprived of three points according to Football Federation of Ukraine control and disciplinary committee decision for nonfulfillment of financial obligations stipulated under the contract of goalkeeper M. Bogatinov.

Igor Jovicevic’s men won their only game against FC Volyn Lutsk. They also drew against FC Hoverla Uzhhorod and FC Metalist Kharkiv.

Anyway Dynamo opponent’s head coach is optimistic: “I’m still proud of my players. I understand our fans, they want us to win, but at first we must go a thorny way to success. I’m sure we’ll do that”.
