Last summer he joined our club. The newcomer adapted to the team easily and became one of the leading attacking players. He’s told us about that, currents state of affairs and future plans.
- What matters to me first of all is to help Dynamo demonstrate good results. Everything is fine so far. We’re sharing the domestic league leadership with Shakhtar, we’ve reached the Ukrainian Cup quarterfinals and we’ve got out of the Champions League group.
- Still it could have been better!
- Do you mean the match against Shakhtar? I can’t even explain what happened to the team that night. We must keep looking forward. This defeat must unite us.
- Last year you had to leave Donetsk. Do you still hope you’ll return?
- I’m really sorry all that has happened. I never imagined I’d have to run away from war. I really want to go to Donetsk, to Metalurh training complex and stadium, but I won’t risk in the nearest future.
- What did you feel when you scored your debut goal in the Champions League?
- That was incredible happiness! A lot of friends and former teammates congratulated me. Every goal I score for Dynamo proves I’ve made a right choice. I had many transfer offers, but I’m happy to be in Kyiv and perform for such great club as Dynamo.
- How do you manage to struggle against tall defenders considering that you aren’t very tall?
- It’s not only about the height. Sometimes you should just make one more step or jump one second earlier to get the ball. Our coach Serhiy Rebrov isn’t very tall, but when he was a player it was difficult for defenders to cope with him.
- Do you still hope you’ll be called up to Brazil national team?
- I believe that Brazil coaches will pay attention to my performances for Dynamo. Competition is very fierce, but I’ll do my best to make my dream come true.
Last year famous Brazilian periodical named most talented strikers, who feature in Europe, but don’t have a single cap to their names so far. The list included me, Roberto Firmino and Luiz Adriano. After that these two made their debut for the national team while I picked up an injury.
