In 1974 he made 4 appearances for Kyivans’ main squad, but usually he feature for the reserve team. The following season he joined FC Zoria Luhansk. He returned to Kyiv in 1976. Kovaliov made 9 appearances for the White-Blues in spring (2 goals) and 6 in autumn (1 goal).
Later he performed for FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, FC Torpedo Moscow, FC Metalurh Zaporizhia and FC Desna Chernihiv. Yuriy has told how he’s going to celebrate his anniversary:
- How are you going to celebrate your 60th anniversary?
- I’m going to gather my friends in the restaurant. There will be about 25 guests.
- What present would you like to get this year?
- I don’t need any expensive presents. Joy I get from communication and good relations with people are more important. Still I guess Dynamo U-16 triumph in the Youth League would be the best present for me.
