FC Dynamo Kyiv halfback Vladyslav Kabayev has commented upon the game against FC Chornomorets (1:1) and triumph in the UPL:
- The ending wasn’t quite a success as we wanted to win. In the first half home side didn’t create a lot, but after we conceded it wasn’t a quality football from us. Generally I’m glad we’ve got the third star for our emblem. Last season, when we lost against Shakhtar, I said we would be back. This year we succeeded and I happy. I came to Dynamo to win the league. Next year we’ll also fight for the Ukrainian Cup. And I really hope we’ll do much better in euro cups.
- You’re from Odessa, is it symbolic that you won the title in this city?
- Yes, it’s always nice to come to Odesa, no matter who the coach is and what kind of guys play here. This is my hometown, my home stadium, where I started playing, so it’s a touching story for me, I’m very pleased that I became the champion of Ukraine here. Apparently, it was supposed to happen, it’s no coincidence that we drew with Polissia.
- Fans were present at the Chornomorets stadium for the first time in three and a half years. Was the atmosphere different compared to arenas where spectators come to watch football regularly?
- Sure. My family is here, a lot of guys called me and asked for tickets as those got unavailable quite quickly. The stadium is great, the field is great, the people in Odesa are great, they are different (smiling). I love this city very much and, I repeat, it’s always nice for me to come back here. I wanted to win, but, probably, this point was more important for Chornomorets than three for us although we aimed to win.
