Vladyslav Kabayev: “I hope we’ve gladdened our supporters”

FC Dynamo Kyiv winger Vladyslav Kabayev has commented upon the 5:0 win against FC Kolos Kovalivka and told about preparations for the game against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

- It was a great game. The first half wasn’t too much of a success. Kolos have a new gaffer and new interesting scheme. They surprised us in a good way. Things were tough in the first half, but I told the team it wasn’t a big deal. I think we’re in a better shape as we win second halves quite often.

We scored one, then another... They suffered a crushing blow while we got inspired. We believed and didn’t panic. We’re glad we’re still in the title race. We’re looking forward to a very interesting game against Shakhtar.

- Kolos conceded four goals in six previous games and five in one half today. How come?

- Kolos have experienced defenders, like Mykyta Burda for example. I guess it’s about skills. We converted our half-chances into goals.

- Didn’t Kolos play too roughly?

- I understand Kolos, they have their own goals. They also wanted to grab some points. I don’t have any claims to them. As for referee’s decision, we should watch the game. He didn’t whistle a lot. But when the score is 0:0, your opponents foul roughly a few times and referee doesn’t book them… Of course that gives you negative emotions. But that’s okay, things happen.

- Will it be better if UPL referees use the EPL referees’ approach and let the teams play on more?

- I’ve got some euro cups experience. They let you play a bit more roughly, but not too much. I wouldn’t say they spoil us in the UPL, but sometimes referees react even to screams. Basically I support more tough approach. When you play in Europe and they push you a bit and you fall screaming, they look at you like you’re a baby. I discussed that with Yarmolenko, Zabarnyi, Mykolenko. We want to have that kind of refereeing, but we’re going to need some time to get used to it.

- Was this the best atmosphere at the stadium this season?

- Totally. Coach said a lot of fans would come and we need to demonstrate decent football. I heard some fans saying “why did we come here?” in the first half. I guess that affected us. I hope we’ve gladdened our supporters. We all want to win the title and we’re doing our best to succeed.

- Your next game is against Shakhtar. Are you ready for it mentally?

- I don’t want to spurt any loud words about us winning the league. Let’s prove we can do it on the field. Shakhtar are very good team. The game will be interesting. I can’t promise everything, but there definitely won’t be indifferent players on our team.
