UPL. Karpaty – Dynamo. Preview

On Saturday, August 17, FC Dynamo Kyiv will play the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 3 game.

The White-Blues will face FC Karpaty Lviv away. The match will take place at the Ukraine Stadium in Lviv. Kick-off – 18:00.

KARPATY

Season start

Karpaty got back from vacation to get ready for the season at their training ground in Bartativ. Within their training campo the Green-Whites played a number of friendlies – beat Mynai (3:1), draw against Prykarpattia (1:1), Ahrobiznes (1:1) and Nyva Ternopil (3:3), lost against Metalist 1925 (0:1) and Bukovyna (2:3).

In the first game of the UPL season Karpaty faced Veres away and played in a draw (0:0). In the next one they flattened Kryvbas (3:0).

Pre-season lineup changes

Lviv side started preparations for the season under the charge of Myron Markevych, but then Vladyslav Lupahsko was appointed as the gaffer. A group of players also left the team – defenders Oleksandr Myziuk, Yurii Romaniuk, Volodymyr Savchyn, halfbacks Yehor Demchenko, Yehor Kartushov, Mykhailo Khromei, Jared Khasa, forwards Denys Halenkov, Vitalii Ravlyk and Arielson.

The Lions were active on transfer marked to get enforced. They loaned forward Denys Ustymenko, signed goalkeeper Oleksandr Kemkin (ex-Mynai), halfback Oleh Ocheretko (ex-Shakhtar and Dnipro-1), goalkeeper Yakiv Kinareikin, defender Volodymyr Adamiuk (ex-Dnipro-1), defender Denys Miroshnychenko, center back Maksym Melnychenko, Supporting midfielder Ivan Chaban (all – ex-Dnipro-1), attacking midfielder Orest Kuzyk (ex-Chornomorets), center back Jean Pedroso (Coritiba, Brazil), Stenio (AVS Portugal), midfielder Pablo Alvarez (Cerno More, Bulgaria) and defender Andrii Buleza (ex-Shakhtar).

DYNAMO

Season start

Dynamo were getting ready for the season in Austria where they played five friendlies – beat Brondby (4:0) and Mamelodi Sundowns (1:0), drew against Paderborn 07 (0:0) and Schalke 04 (2:2) and lost against Union Berlin (2:3).

Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s men postponed the UPL matchday 1 games against Oleksandria and started with the match against Veres which they won (2:1).

Besides, Dynamo have already gone through two Champions League qualifying rounds without a single defeat. They flattened Partizan Belgrade twice (6:2 and 3:0) after which outplayed Rangers on aggregate (1:1 and 2:0). Now the White-Blues are to face the Austrian side RB Salzburg in the play-off round.

Pre-season lineup changes

This summer only two players who were close to the first team left Dynamo – center back Oleksandr Syrota, who joined Maccabi Haifa, and winger Benito, who was loaned out to Zoria. The rest who left the club weren’t with Dynamo last season – winger Kaheem Parris, right back Mykyta Kravchenko, attacking midfielder Mikkel Duelund, winger Gerson Rodrigues, attacking midfielder Serhii Buletsa, winger Heorhii Tsytaishvili, forward Eric Ramirez, midfielder Oleksandr Yatsyk and forward Ihor Horbach.

Meanwhile Dynamo signed halfbacks Oleksandr Pikhalionok and Valentyn Rubchynskyi, left back/winger Maksym Braharu, center back Brayan Ceballos (loan move), promising Georgian midfielder Aleksandre Peikrishvili, returned from loan move halfbacks Justin Lonwijk and Mykola Mykhailenko.
