Valencia CF and Rácing de Santander have played-out a tight 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Copa del Rey Round of 16 tie.
The breakthrough came in the 37th minutes when Rácing defender Colsa diverted Fernandes’s corner into his own net. In the second half, the host team stormed forward looking for an equaliser and were rewarded when Lacen beat Valencia goalkeeper with a free-kick.
The visiting side ended the match with nine players on the pitch. Both Vicente and Miguel were dismissed in the final minutes of the match. The return leg against Rácing takes place seven days later. Emery’s lads will meet their opponents on home soil January 14.
