UPL. Livyi Bereh – Dynamo – 0:3: post-match press conference of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi

FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi answered media questions after the win against FC Livyi Bereh Kyiv (0:3).

- Congrats to Dynamo fans. I want to thank our warriors, Armed Forces of Ukraine, for the chance to play.

We’ve got really tight schedule. Besides, we were getting ready for this match after upsetting game against Lazio. But we realize that the Europa League and the UPL are different competitions. Anyway, we aim to win every game.

- Today Taras Mykhavko and Valentyn Rubchynskyi scored their debut goals for Dynamo…

- No matter who scores, it’s about teamwork. It doesn’t really matter to me who hits the target. I want every player to score.

But of course we’ve congratulated Taras and Valentyn on their goals. We’ve also congratulated Maks Diachuk on his return after bad injury.

- It seemed Mykhavko was subbed off due to injury. How serious is that? What the general situation with center backs like?

- As for Taras, he’s got certain adductor muscle issues. He even skipped the recent call-up to the national team because of that. We substituted him in order not to make things worse.

Denys Popov has just got back to work as well. So when he told he feels discomfort we subbed him off too.

- You have only one points loss in domestic league so far. What do you think of the season start?

- I don’t evaluate the start separately. We get ready for every game. We’re going to have quite a tough period, so I don’t want to draw any conclusions so far. We’re moving from one game to another. We apply squad rotation so that everyone felt game rhythm and maintained proper shape. That’s vital as you can do fine in the training process, but when you take the field you have to do your maximum. I always tell players one can never live up to their expectations. The way you work in training, building skills, that’s how you act on the field when there is pressure from the stands, pressure of responsibility, pressure of fatigue. We try to practice certain aspects so that guys did those automatically when on the field.

- Today you had a bit unusual formation – with two midfielders. Is that about preparations for euro cups?

- Actually we had three midfielders. There’re different actions in different phases of the game. We practice different options to be able to change our tactics so that opponents didn’t get accustomed.
