Dynamo assistant coach Sergey Ovchinnikov commented on the draw for the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round:
- Telling the truth, I was sure that FC Spartak would be our opponent in the final qualifying round. We discussed this question with other coaches and everybody was definite that the third qualifying phase matches would be played against the Russian club. As you can see, we were right.
To my opinion, both Dynamo and Spartak stand a good chance of winning. I’m sure this encounter will be really thrilling and interesting. Fans of both teams will pack the stadium. It will be a real show especially for those who still remember the USSR Championship. However, we shouldn’t forget about our upcoming second-leg match of the second qualifying round against Drogheda United. Only after this game will we be able to speak about FC Spartak.
