Sergey Ovhinnikov, one of Yuriy Semin’s assistants, talked to media people after the new head coach was introduced to players at a press conference:
- Anyone joining Dynamo should realize where and why he has come. Although I lack wide coaching experience, I think my playing career was quite successful. I am hopeful I will manage to share my experience with the team and thus will serve a useful function to the club.
Q: Yuriy Semin said Dynamo is a team made up of highly qualified professionals. After the UEFA Champions League game in Lisbon, Oleh Luzhnyy, on the contrary, opined the players do not comply with the team’s level. What is your viewpoint?
A: If the coach gives his assessment, his assistants should rely on it instead of passing comments.
Q: Does your arrival in Dynamo have to do with the appointment of Yuriy Semin?
A: There was no other way I could have found myself in the club.
Q: Have you felt the different ambience in Kyiv compared to that in the intrigue-engulfed Lokomotiv?
A: A new squad is always the unknown, either for a coach or player. It takes time to adapt and to feel comfortable. To get back to Lokomotiv, I think we should not delve in our past. We are now with Dynamo and have the spring part of the championship ahead of us.
