FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi answered media questions after the away game against FC Rukh Lviv (2:1):
- Congratulations on the league season finish, it wasn’t an easy one. Summarizing our performance, we did well in spring. We won 13 games out of 16. I think it’s pretty decent. Of course we’ll aim to win every match.
Today we realized Rukh had their goal, but we should never lose our face.
- Today players that didn’t have much game practice throughout the season took the field. Diallo scored his first goal. What’s his role in the team at the moment?
- He had some time making substitute appearances. I perfectly knew today we had a number of players who needed a chance to take the field so that we had information to ponder regarding their future in the team. I want to thank them for their professionalism. It’s quite difficult to play the last game that doesn’t mean anything. I’ve thanked them for their attitude.
Those substitutions we made were scheduled. Tsarenko skipped a lot due to health issues. Malysh had a bad injury and a surgery, but recently he’s been doing a good job, so we let him play as well. Kabayev and Karavayev, who played a lot, needed some rest. Bilovar used to be quite sick. Today he was in the starting lineup, but in the second half said he couldn’t continue. We were ready for that.
Benito had a good game. So had Diallo. By the way, speaking about the way he scored, we planned that.
- What are the team’s plans for the summer break?
- Players who’re going to participate in the friendly tournament with the Olympic team have got some rest. The team will gather on June 23. Those guys who’re available are going to have a medical examination.
We wish all the best to our national team. We’ll see when they finish their Euro-2024 campaign. Then we’ll know how much rest time we can give our internationals. Besides there’s still Olympics, so that’s not going to be easy.
Approximately on July 7 we’re going to start our training camp in Austria. Afterwards we’ll start the Champions League qualification.
