The UEFA Referees Committee today announced the referees for the first-leg match of the 2008/09 UEFA Cup quarter-final between Paris Saint-Germain FC and FC Dynamo Kyiv to be played in France on Thursday 09 April, with the game scheduled to kick-off at 21.45 (Kyiv time).
Pieter Vink of the Netherlands has been put in charge of the encounter. The 42-year-old Dutchman began refereeing in 1987, and was elected to the Eredivisie (the highest football league in the Netherlands) C-List in 1993, progressing to the competition's B-List in 1996 and then becoming a referee on the country's A-List in 2001. He was awarded his FIFA badge in 2004 and, in that same year, made his international debut.
In 2007, the referee was honoured to handle the first official match to be played at the newly-rebuilt Wembley Stadium, a friendly between England Under-21 and Italy Under-21 which ended in 3–3.
At the Parc des Princes stadium, Pieter Vink will be assisted by compatriots Arie Brink and Wilco W.A. Lobbert, with Bernie Raymond Blom acting as fourth official. Petr Fousek of Czech Republic and Alan Snoddy of Northern Ireland will act as UEFA delegate and UEFA referee observer, respectively.
