FC Dynamo Kyiv defender Oleksandr Karavayev has shared his impressions of the Europa League match against Ferencvarosi TC (0:4).
- Before the game you said dedication would be key. Is the red card for Dubinchak the result of excessive emotions?
- I don’t really know. I think it was an accident. He stepped on opponent’s foot outside the field. The same happened to Braharu as we faced Lazio. But the red card actually united us and we did well in the first half. We had a lot of chances, there were crossbars… We just didn’t use our opportunities. We could play the same way in the second half, but I didn’t recognize the team after the break. It’s like we gave up… We need to have a talk as this kind of football is inexcusable.
- You were doing fine in the second half, you even had a scoring chance. Did you just get exhausted?
- Basically we were doing fine and running forward even being outnumbered. But it’s all in our head. We must sort things out for ourselves and understand that even lacking a player we still must stick to the game plan. Of course it’s harder, but we must do our best.
- Would the game have turned out differently if squads were even?
- I don’t like that kind of predictions, so there’s nothing I can say about it. We didn’t score although we could. Then we conceded due to childish mistakes… They punish you for those on this level.
I sincerely apologize to our fans and everyone supporting us. I’m sure we’ll play differently. This will be a good lesson and we must prove that we can draw conclusions.
