- Current contest is special as it’s been quite a long time since matches of such level were held in Brazil. There were some problems with preparation for the tournament, but as we see Brazilians have coped with that. Teams from South America are especially enthusiastic about the World Cup. Personally I wouldn’t like the hegemony of Spain to end, but I doubt that they’ll manage to win the trophy this time. I guess Brazil, Argentina and Germany are the main claimants to the title.
- Will the current World Cup become the continuation of the rivalry between European and South American teams?
- Sure, I don’t see other possible challengers at the moment. There are some good teams in Africa with bright leaders, but that’s not enough to win the tournament.
- Can talented youngsters surprise the public in Brazil?
- I don’t think so. Today specialists know what to expect from this or that player. That’s why it’s difficult to surprise football world.
- Three performers represent FC Dynamo Kyiv at the World Cup. Can they become leaders of their teams?
- Vida and Vukojevic are experienced defensive players. Lens didn’t have a good season in Dynamo, so maybe he’ll try to draw attention to himself at the World Cup. Miguel performs different functions featuring for the White-Blues and for Portugal. In his national team he starts a lot of attacks while in Dynamo he also has to play for defense. Anyway it will be difficult for him to overshadow leaders.
- What is your prediction for the World Cup?
- I guess Brazil will face either Spain or Germany in the final.
