Oleh HUSIEV: “Being a leader is much obliging”

Oleh Husiev has become the White-Blues best performer of the month for the third time in a row!

We congratulate Oleh on this achievement as he’s the first Dynamo player to win such recognition ever!

Since we informed that you can send Oleh questions we got more than 200 letters from different countries, including France, Germany and even Brazil! We chose most interesting questions and Husiev answered them. As a prize he got a shirt signed by supporters!

- What advice can you give young players, who train at Dynamo academy and dream of featuring for this club? (Pavlo Musienko).

- First of all one mustn’t be lazy. It’s necessary to listen to the coach and to do your best on the pitch. Of course talent and luck can help to achieve everything else.

- What was your parents’ attitude to football in the beginning of your career?

- When I was a kid they thought it was just a hobby and laid emphasis on study. Later they realized that things were getting serious. Still I studied rather well even after that.

- Who is your main fan? With whom do you discuss Dynamo and your personal play first of all?

- With my father. He follows every Dynamo match, reads comments, interviews. He also used to play football as amateur. Sometimes he can be critical. Father gives me different advice, but I don’t follow them all the time (smiling).

- Do you have a nickname? How did parents call you when you were a kid? How often do you see them? (Tetiana Prydma)

- Parents usually called me just Oleh. As for the nickname, sometimes young players call me Anatoliovych, which is my patronymic. As for the last part of the question, I come home twice a year during vacation. Sometimes parents visit me in Kyiv.

- Do you have close friends in Sumy region? (Sasha Soloviov)

- I do. Unfortunately I don’t always see them when I come home, because I also want to spend time with parents. I hope those people I can’t communicate with will forgive me. I remember about them.

- Speaking about relations with teammates, with whom do you have good fellowship?

- I always communicated with older guys. The majority of them have started coaching already. It’s easier to find common ground with them. I have friendly relations with Olexandr Shovkovskyi and Serhiy Rebrov, who is already Dynamo assistant coach tough we used to perform for Ukraine national team together.

- I’m Dynamo U-7 goalkeeper. Did you dream of becoming football player when a kid? If you didn’t then what did you want to be? (Anton Malynovskyi)

- I always wanted to be a football player. As for profession, I never had other dreams.

- What did you feel when you took the field together with your son? (Irusia Horemykina)

- It’s difficult to describe such feelings. It was something special. My son was full of good emotions, he was happy.

- Do you have a dream which hasn’t come true yet? (Kateryna Reka)

- I guess I don’t. I play for my favourite team, friends and relative are healthy. Every year I set some goals and move forward.

- If you had a time machine, what event would you like to repeat?

- I think that would be 2006 World Cup. Maybe we could go through to semifinal.

- What is the best advice you ever got?

- There were really many of them. One can’t always follow advice, but at least I always listen to a person.

- What are your non-football plans for the nearest future?

- I’m going to spend vacation with my wife, celebrate New Year and visit my parents.

- Who did you always look up to? (Olexandr Hruntsevych)

- Being younger I followed Shevchenko and Rebrov. Later we performed for the same team. Marco van Basten, Raul and Henry also were my idols.

- Why did you choose squad number 20?

- I was 20 years old when I joined Dynamo and I didn’t really have a choice. In Ukraine national team my squad number is 9.

- I live in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and support Dynamo. My question is: what was it like to play alongside such performers as Shevchenko and Rebrov? And what does being leader of the team mean to you? (Davi Lucas)

- At first I follow their play and they were my idols. It was unusual to play alongside them, but later they became just my older teammates.

As for being a leader, it is much obliging. When I take the field I realize that a lot depends upon my play. It’s a great responsibility. Poor results create psychological pressure.

- You’ve managed to become the idol of thousands of Ukrainian supporters. What moments were crucial on your way? What people made the strongest contribution into your career of professional football player? (Olexandr, Sumy)

- It was difficult for me to move from Sumy to Kyiv. At first it wasn’t easy to live in the capital, but we had a good team and our coach Viacheslav Hroznyi supported me a lot. I wanted to return home, but he persuaded me to stay.

- In the beginning of you career you played futsal. Do guys, who also play it, have chances to become professional football performers, or maybe they should go in for football at once? (Ihor Kalmykov)

- Of course they should go in for football. They usually play futsal in winter. As for me, I participated only in one official futsal game when I was 15. We lost the match 0:6.

- What game is the most memorable for you? What is your favourite position on the pitch? (Nastia Zanemontseva)

- There were a lot of memorable matches: my first game for Dynamo, first cap for Ukraine national team and of course 2006 World Cup fixture against Switzerland. As for my favourite position, I like to play as right attacking midfielder.

- What is the most spectacular goal you’ve ever scored? (Ksenia Khokhlovska)

- I guess it was the goal I scored against FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih with scissors kick in 2004. I also remember the goal I netted against FC Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukrainian Cup final.

- Fans call you a player with Dynamo heart. Shall we see the coach Oleh Husiev in several years? (Natasha Kusiaka)

- I don’t know whether I can be a coach, but if I have a chance I’ll do my best for Dynamo.

- Do you agree that defeats can teach us more than wins? (Anastasia Hudz)

- I hate losing, but defeats can be really useful. Still it’s bad when you lose too often.

- I live in Kharkiv, but support Dynamo in away matches which take place in different cities of Ukraine. Do you feel fans support when you feature away? You are one of few performers, who come up to supporters even after defeats. (Vadym Smolenskyi)

- We feel fans’ support when we play away. I come up to them after the final whistle as I understand that they come from a distance. Unfortunately few players do that when we suffer defeats.

- When shall we see Dynamo winning UPL and performing worthy in Champions League? (Max Borys)

- I hope that will happen next year.
