Dynamo winger Nazar Voloshyn – who came off the bench in the 3:0 win over Hamrun Spartans to score a goal and make an assist – spoke to the club’s media after the match.
- Right now everyone’s in a positive mood. How’s the atmosphere?
- Absolutely positive. We won, played well, scored three goals – so it’s a good result and we could say everyone’s happy.
- Do you feel this result is the culmination of your preseason work?
- Yes, of course. We’ve worked hard, done a lot of running, drilled the tactics extensively—that all paid off, and we got the win.
- You came on with only a one-goal lead and immediately made two goal-contributing plays. What was your mindset when you went on?
- First of all to help the team – play forward, look to score or set up a goal. I managed both, so I’m very satisfied.
- You celebrated the assist just as much as the goal – rumor has it you even crossed yourself…
- I always do that. An assist, like a goal, is a positive contribution for me.
- Tell us about the first goal: you’d broken free at speed, then waited for your teammates…
- Buialskyi played the ball in behind me but something going wrong. The ball ran on so I held up and played it back to Vitaliy on the run. He took it and scored – that was it.
- On the last goal you played like in futsal, finishing at the far post. Is that something you drill in training – to run right through to the end?
- Definitely – you always have to run to the far post and you’ll score. That’s exactly how it went today (smiles).
- With the third goal you effectively sealed the tie…
- Yes, it gives us extra confidence but the return leg still officially starts from 0:0 and we’ll again be looking to win.
- The home fans put on a mini-concert today. What can you say about the stadium’s atmosphere and our supporters’ backing?
- It’s wonderful when our fans support us even in a place as exotic as Malta. Their backing really motivates us. Honestly I didn’t expect so many of our fans to be here today.
