French referee Laurent Duhamel has been appointed to take charge of the UEFA Cup Round of 16 second leg match between two Ukrainian sides Metalist Kharkiv and Dynamo Kyiv. He has been a referee in the French Football Federation (FFF) since 1993, and the FIFA badge arrived in 1999.
Duhamel is no stranger to the Kyivers in the UEFA Cup. In the 2004/2005 season, he took charge of their goalless first-leg draw against FC Villarreal in the Round of 32. The White-Blues then went down 0-2 in the second leg and failed to progress to the next UEFA Cup stage.
The 42-year old will be accompanied by assistant referees Stéphane Duhamel (Laurent’s brother) and Christian Thoison, with Hervé Piccirillo acting as fourth official. David Blood of Ireland and Emanuel Zammit of Malta will act as UEFA delegate and UEFA referee observer, respectively.
The match Metalist vs. Dynamo will take place on Thursday 19 March in Kharkiv at the Metalist stadium, kicking-off at 19.00 (local time).
