After the 1:0 victory over one of the league underdogs Zakarpattya, Dynamo moved up the table, yet it is still a long way to the top place.
The hosting team possessed the ball and the situation most of the time, but the infamous failure to use all the scoring chances did its work and prevented the White-Blues from getting a more convincing victory. It would be wrong to say the Kyivers were bad at attacking, but mistakes made at the closing minutes let them take only one pinpoint shot.
The match began with an unexpected volley from Brayila from a 25-meter range, but the ball could only hit the crossbar. Dynamo players took time with their response. The first one came no sooner than on 17 minutes after the brilliant Belkevich-Shatskikh-Milevskyy combination, with the latter, however, being not exact to score into the far corner.
Soon there came up a chance for Shatskikh to hit from the acute angle, but Babenko was right in choosing the position to make a save.
The second half saw some changes in József Szabó’s team with now a classical 4-4-2 formation. Striker Bangoura (this time without scoring a goal) and defender Diakhaté (with his confident and nearly flawless performance) were back on the pitch after their lengthy injury break.
A more active game in the second half produced some dangerous moments for Zakarpattya. First, Bangoura was in the good position to open the score, then Shatskikh was left tête-à-tête with the goalie. Finally, Rotan seized two chances to score from a wide range. The goal was on its way.
And it did come. Bangoura shot the ball past the goalkeeper, but the experienced Chyzhevskyy deflected the ball for a corner. After Shatskikh sent a header into the center of the penalty area, the ball found Diogo Rincón who was unguarded by Zakarpattya defenders – 1:0.
”The most important thing today is our victory”, - kept saying the footballers after the encounter. In this case it is hard to disagree with this night’s winners.
