On November 2, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the fourth Champions League group stage game of the season. Mircea Lucescu’s men hosted FC Barcelona at the NSC Olimpiyskyi. Kyivans had 1 point after 3 matchdays.
The game was interesting, dynamic and with a lot of scoring chances. Still, just like in the previous match, only one goal was scored. Barcelona managed to succeed this time too.
Dynamo coach made two substitutions in the starting lineup, comparing with away match against Barca. Karavayev and Harmash replaced Mykolenko and Karavayev.
Both sides started the game quite actively and exchanged potential scoring opportunities. Anyway, gradually Barcelona seized initiative, but efforts of Depay, Fati and Gavi weren’t really dangerous.
Halfway through the first half, Kyivans had some decent attacks. At first Shaparenko didn’t shoot properly after low cross by Harmash, later visitors’ keeper coped with the strike by de Pena and then Shaparenko sent the ball wide.
Barcelona responded right away. They took a free kick and Lenglet hit the post with a header! Still it turned out he was offside. So, the first half ended in a goalless draw.
Dynamo did better early in the second half. Harmash attempted from a tight angle. Tsyhankov rushed into space, but defender stopped him at the cost of yellow card. Karavayev shot from the left side of the box and the ball went just a bit wide.
The decisive episode happened in the 70th minute. Mingueza put a low cross from the right wing and Fati hit the target from inside the penalty area. Sydorchuk and Buialskyi tried to equalize, but ter Stegen parried their shots. Tsyhankov could succeed, but Barca keeper cleared his strike too. Late in the game Zabarnyi missed in a promising situation after cross from the corner flag. So, Dynamo lose 0:1.
