On Tuesday, August 27, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the Champions League qualification play-off round second leg. The White-Blues faced RB Salzburg away.
In the first leg Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s men lost 2:0. The return match ended in a draw – 1:1 – with both goals scored in the first half.
Dynamo started aggressively. Dubinchak attempted after cross, Pikhalionok shot from distance, but over the bar. Thus it was really upsetting to concede in the 12th minute as Daghim moved from the right side towards the center and hit the corner.
After that visitors got more careful while home side seized the initiative and maintained possession. Still the White-Blues performed a great attack as Mykhavko found Vanat with a long ball and Vladyslav scored being one-on-one with the keeper – 1:1.
Later Kabayev had a chance to put Dynamo in front as he also appeared in one-on-one situation, but defender reached the ball. Our team lacked some bit in the finishing phase.
After the break Kyivans rushed forward again and continued the tension. Vanat attempted dangerously – over the bar. Still is should be mentioned that RB Salzburg didn’t just defend. Bushchan managed to grab the ball only on the second attempt in one of the episodes.
Shaparenko had a great opportunity to grab the winner late on the game after one-two with Vanat, but he missed from inside the box somehow! Despite all the efforts and pressing, Dynamo didn’t manage to score at least one more.
So, it’s 1:1 (1:3 on aggregate) which means Dynamo will perform in the Europa League group stage.
