Although Andriy Shevchenko’s men won the group, they still needed at least a draw in this match to be in the first pot when the drawing time comes.
Home side opened the score early in the match as referee awarded penalty for Serbia, but visitors equalized 32 minutes into the game. Yaremchuk headed the ball in after cross by Tsyhankov.
Soon after the break Mitrovic made it 2:1 for home side, but defeat wasn’t the part of Ukraine plans. Eventually, in a stoppage time, FC Dynamo Kyiv striker Artem Besedin equalized and thus helped our national team finish the qualifying campaign without a single defeat.
Four more Kyivans took the field, beside Tsyhankov and Besedin – Karavayev, Sydorchuk, Mykolenko and Shepelev.
