UPL. Matchday 19. Dynamo – Vorskla – 2:1. Report

After the winter break the White-Blues hosted FC Vorskla Poltava at the Dynamo Stadium named after Valeriy Lobanovskyi. The match was played behind closed doors. Only kids were allowed to come to the stadium. Still many fans gathered outside the arena in Mariinskyi Park to support Dynamo.

The starting lineup of our team consisted of players, who started the last friendly at the training camp against FC Dinamo Tbilisi.

Olexiy Mykhailychenko’s men started the game quite actively gaining momentum gradually. At first Mykolenko attempted to score, but missed, and then Shabanov sent the ball into the net, but he was flagged offside.

In several minutes Rusyn had a decent opportunity, but the ball went over the bar.

Visitors responded with a good counterattack, but Bushchan was there for his team.

Kyivans had two promising free kicks, but at first Verbic hit the wall and then Vorskla keeper parried the shot by Duelund. Anyway our team didn’t score in the first half.

Still soon after the break Dynamo succeeded. Buialskyi sent the ball over Riznyk along incredible trajectory from the right side and made it 1:0.

Home side finished almost every attack with a shot, but Vorskla managed to respond. Stepaniuk headed the ball in after cross from the right wing – 1:1.

Dynamo created a lot of chances to grab the winner and actually did it in a stoppage time. Riznyk parried the shot by Rusyn, but Verbic was there to hit the target with a stunning strike.
