- Why did Ukraine concede early in the game?
- Slovenia used a lot of crosses into the box early in the first half. Actually they didn’t have any combinations. They have tall players. There was a touch, Piatov parried the ball, but then home side scored…
- It was the worst possible scenario – to concede the early opener…
- We tried to act securely not to concede the early opener. Slovenia didn’t do anything special, they just rushed forward. I didn’t know they would play dirty game. They wanted one of our players to be sent off. Eventually they were punished for that. We defended pretty well and had chances. The game was intense, but we didn’t repeat the mistake we made in France.
- What can you say about your personal opposition with Novakovic?
- He didn’t surprise me at all. Actually he didn’t even have chances.
- It seems it was easy for you to oppose him…
- It wasn’t. I was really nervous. Before the game I even had insomnia and some sneaky feeling.
- What is the most memorable about this game?
- We’ve qualified for Euro-2016 which is above all. It’s a dream for everyone.
- Has President congratulated you?
- He has. After the game Hryhoriy Surkis said the President followed the game. This victory is important for Ukraine as we’re having hard times.
