Barcelona – Dynamo: Match preview

Andriy Shevchenko (1997)

Dynamo Kyiv and Barcelona are no strangers to each other having met eight times on the big stage. The Kyivers' record against the Catalan opposition reads three victories, one draw and four defeats, while the aggregate score from the two sides' matches is 14:14.

The most notable of those meetings came in the 1997/1998 season as the Ukrainian side overcame the Blaugrana 7-0 on aggregate in the Champions League group stage.

Barcelona's most recent victory against Dynamo took place in the 1993/94 European Cup first round when they overturned a 3-1 first-leg deficit with a 4-1 home success through goals from Michael Laudrup, José Maria Bakero (2) and Ronald Koeman.

With three goals apiece, Andriy Shevchenko, who moved back to his first club this summer, and former Dynamo player Serhiy Rebrov remain the club’s most prolific strikers against Barcelona.
