Arsène Wenger's men will face FC Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League game tomorrow night. Earlier, the Arsenal manager named an 18-man squad for the match. These are goalkeepers Manuel Almunia and Łukasz Fabiański, defenders Bacary Sagna, Kolo Touré, William Gallas, Johan Djourou, Gaël Clichy, midfielders Cesc Fàbregas, Theo Walcott, Denilson, Aaron Ramsey, Alexandre Song, Jack Wilshere, Emmanuel Eboué, strikers Robin van Persie, Carlos Vela, Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner.
Wenger spoke to media people in Kyiv ahead of his side’s Champions League Group G opener against Dynamo:
- We know Kyiv is always a very difficult place for us. At the stadium, they get a great support. However, I feel we have enough experience to deal with that because we know it is important to start well. We just gained a comfortable win at Blackburn on Saturday and that gives us the needed confidence that we can achieve something in the Champions League. We have to play as close as possible to our full potential. In a Champions League game you do not get away with less.
Now it is better to be starting than two weeks ago, because many players came back too weary from the European Championship. Now everybody is ready physically to play at the top level.
We respect Dynamo Kyiv. I was impressed by their 8-2 aggregate victory over FC Spartak Moskva in the third qualifying round. I feel their main strengths are that they are very efficient, they work very hard and they are very disciplined. Up front, with Artem Milevskyy and Ismaël Bangoura, they can also score goals. But we are not afraid, we are afraid of nobody. If you do not prepare well mentally you can be surprised by the level of commitment when you play in Ukraine.
