The UPL matchday 22 hosted the 190th battle between FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Five matchdays before the season finish Dynamo were 7 points in front of Shakhtar and Donetsk side needed victory to preserve chances for the title.
In the third minute both sides exchanged scoring chances. Solomon attempted from the left side of the box, but sent the ball over the bar. Besedin hit Trubin in one-on-one situation, but was flagged offside afterwards.
Generally Shakhtar were mostly in possession early in the game, but Dynamo defended orderly and counted on counterattacks.
Anyway, gradually the situation on the field changed. Mircea Lucescu’s men took the ball under control and started creating more chances.
The outcome of the White-Blues’ activeness was a penalty. Andriyevskyi rushed into Shakhtar penalty area, Marcos Antonio pushed him and Kateryna Monzul pointed to the spot.
Carlos de Pena took the shot and hit the bottom corner.
In the second half Gerson Rodrigues, Mykola Shaparenko and Viktor Tsyhankov made substitute appearances.
Basically Shakhtar didn’t manage to create any danger after the break.
Dynamo defense was perfect in this match and didn’t give Donetsk side a chance. So, Dynamo succeed and make a great step towards the league title.
