Club Brugge KV

On February 25 FC Dynamo Kyiv played the Europa League round of 32 second leg against Club Brugge KV.

After the first match that ended in a draw (1:1), Dynamo had to score at the Jan Breydel Stadium. Comparing with the recent game against FC Desna Chernihiv (1:1), Mircea Lucescu made only one substitution in the starting lineup – Syrota replaced Karavayev.

Dynamo started the game by keeping the lower profile and waiting for a chance to counterattack. Still visitors were the first to create danger. At first defender blocked the shot by Gerson and then Brugge player managed to reach the ball when Besedin was rushing towards the goal.

Anyway, the game was quite boring in the first twenty minutes. Neither side wanted to force events. Halfway through the first half Brugge had two decent chances. At first Dost attempted with a header from a perfect position, but Bushchan was there. Later Van den Keybus tried to score from distance, but missed.

Things didn’t change a lot after the break. Brugge were mostly in possession, but our defenders and goalkeeper were doing a good job. Bushchan saved the team when Badji attempted in one-on-one situation. Dynamo created the first chance when Shaparenko took the field. Mykola unleashed a good strike from outside the box, but Mignolet parried it.

Eventually it turned out that Dynamo were waiting for their chance for a good reason. In the 83rd minute Rodrigues found Tsyhankov inside the box, Viktor put a cross and Buialskyi sent the ball into the net – 1:0!

Brugge looked shocked and didn’t manage to create real chances after that. Meanwhile the White-Blues could double the score in a stoppage time, but keeper coped with Shaparenko’s shot.

So, Dynamo win an reach the Europa League round of 16. The drawing ceremony will take place on February 26.
