FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted FC Desna Chernihiv at the NSC Olimpiyskyi within the UPL matchday 2.
Last season Kyivans defeated Chernihiv side only once in domestic league, so no one expected this battle to be a laugher for Mircea Lucescu’s men.
The match was played after two-week international break. This was the period when a lot of Dynamo first team performers featured for their national teams while Desna were getting ready for the game in full force.
The match started traditionally. Dynamo took the ball under control, but didn’t actually create scoring opportunities for a while. Meanwhile visitors could get their noses in front halfway through the first half, but Budkivskyi missed the ball after cross from Kalytvyntsev.
Later home side got more active and had some decent chances. Kedziora hit the post with a header. Kartushov almost sent the ball into his own net after low cross by Tsyhankov, but Past saved his team. And then de Pena hit the woodwork with a spectacular volley.
After the break Dynamo missed opportunities parade continued. Past parried the attempt of Tsyhankov and Buialskyi missed when trying to head the ball in.
In the second half Desna focused on defense and barely attacked while Dynamo couldn’t cope with their wall.
So it’s 0:0. Dynamo lose first points this season. Another bad news for Kyivans is injury of defender Tymchyk, who was substituted in the first half.

Good start for Dynamo
After two-week international break Dynamo get back to Ukrainian competitions. The game against Desna will be the third official fixture for Kyivans this season. They’ve already defeated FC Olimpik Donetsk in the UPL (4:1) and FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the Super Cup (3:1).
During the break the White-Blues were working at their training complex in Koncha-Zaspa without a number of internationals. They played a training match against the youth team and a friendly against FC Kolos Kovalivka. The only goal in that game was scored by Artem Kravets. Unfortunately Mykyta Burda suffered serious injury in that match and it will take him about half a year to recover.

Our opponent
Desna started the season by defeating their recent opponent in the battle for UPL bronze – FC Zoria Luhansk. Chernihiv side responded with three goals to the opener of Zoria and won 3:1.
Desna lineup didn’t change a lot in summer. Only Favorov and Kuzyk left the team while Mudryk and Dehtiariov joined it.
