On February 12 FC Dynamo Kyiv played the fifth friendly at the second winter training camp in Turkey. The White-Blues faced FC Tobol Kostanay, who finished fourth in 2019 Kazakhstan Premier League.
Comparing with the match against FC Bate Borisov (1:1) the White-Blues gaffer applied significant lineup rotation and let such youth team performers as Kucheruk, Syrota, Romanchuk, Sukhoruchko and Kuzyk get some game practice.
Although Tobol were holding the initiative in the first half Kyivans created more chances. Eventually Sol headed the ball in after cross from the corner flag.
After that Dynamo kept applying pressure and Duelund managed to double the score. Tobol defenders didn’t clear the ball properly and Mikkel netted it.
It seemed the game was under total control of our team, but right before the break referee awarded penalty for Tobol and Nurgaliev converted from the spot. In a couple of minutes after the break Muzhikov scored the equalizer.
Olexiy Mykhailychenko’s men tried to change the situation on the field by creating chances mostly after set pieces. Meanwhile Tobol scored two more. At first Murtazayev headed the ball in after cross from the right side and then Avetisyan used the mistake of Dynamo defense and made it 2:4.
Kyivans could equalize, but referee canceled two goals by Sol due to offside.
So, Dynamo suffer the first defeat at the training camp.

Tobol finished fourth in domestic league last season. Actually they were claimants upon the title, but gained only 5 points in the last six games.
As for the national cup, Tobol reached the semifinal, but then lost against FC Kaisar on aggregate. In the Europa League first qualifying round Kostanay suffered the defeat against Jeunesse from Luxembourg.

For many Ukrainian fans the most well-known player in Tobol is probably Jaba Kankava, who used to feature for FC Arsenal Kyiv, FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih and FC Dnipro. He’s been playing in Kazakhstan since 2018.
Tobol are quite active at the transfer market. They’ve signed defender Stephen Eze, halfbacks Serikzhan Muzhikov and Petros Avetisyan and forward Roman Murtazayev.
Coach:
Tobol gaffer is 39-year-old Grigori Babayan. As a player, he featured for FC Kairat and FC Alma-Ata, but finished his career when he was 25 and started coaching.
From 2005 till 2008 Babayan was FC Alma-Ata assistant coach. He also worked with Kazakhstan national and youth team.
From 2005 till 2008 he was FC Astana assistant coach. In 2013, 2014 and 2018 he performed the duties of caretaker coach. In 2018 he won the domestic league and Super Cup with Astana.
On December 14 2019 Grigori Babayan took charge of FC Tobol.
