FC Dynamo Kyiv started 2017/2018 Ukrainian Cup campaign with away battle against FC Oleksandria.
This time there was no full house at the Nika Stadium. Still the home side had quite a good support as usually.
Players’ injuries made Olexandr Khatskevych changed the lineup a lot. Comparing with the match against FC Shakhtar Donetsk seven new players took the field. Only Yevhen Khacheridi, Tomasz Kedziora, Denys Harmash and Derlis Gonzalez preserved starting spots.
Goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan was among first eleven for the second time this season. Aleksandar Pantic and Vitaliy Mykolenko defended alongside Kedziora and Khacheridi.
Absolute debutant of the first team Yevhen Smyrnyi took the position of left winger. Volodymyr Shepelev performed in the midfield.
Artem Besedin and Artem Kravets were two forwards. The latter was a team captain for the first time.
Early in the game Dynamo acted very confidently and home side task was not to concede.
Still Oleksandria also started attacking in a while. 36 minutes into the game the White-Blues used a fast attack. Gonzalez put a low cross into the box, where Kravets hit the open goal.
After the break Volodymyr Sharan’s men got more active. 77 minutes into the match they used a set piece very effectively and Starenkyi headed the ball in.
Both sides had chances after that, but still it all ended with extra time. Home side got really tired while Olexandr Khatskevych applied lineup rotation, so Dynamo gained momentum.
Early in the second extra period Kravets put a low cross into the penalty area and Besedin put our team in front again!
Oleksandria had chances to equalize, but Heorhiy Bushchan saved the White-Blues twice.
Eventually Kravets scored his second goal of the game with a header after cross from Gonzalez.
The White-Blues gaffer let two more debutants take the field – Akhmed Alibekov and Bohdan Lednev.
In a stoppage time referee awarded penalty for Oleksandria and Hrytsuk converted from the spot, but right after that the final whistle came.
