FC Dynamo Kyiv and FC Shakhtar Donetsk have opened 2016/17 season with the Ukrainian Super Cup in Odesa!

Pre-season period wasn’t rich on transfers. Both sides have preserved lineups and enforced them a bit. Left winger Artem Hromov has made his debut for Dynamo. So has midfielder Valeriy Fedorchuk. 21-year-old Nikita Korzun has made his second appearance for the White-Blues.

Both teams started the game carefully. The first chance was created 18 minutes into the match. Junior Moraes unleashed the shot from good position, but Stepanenko blocked it. Later Olexandr Shovkovskyi parried shots by Taison and Eduardo. By the way, this is the 24th season for Dynamo main squad for our goalkeeper!

After the break Kyivans kept attacking, but didn’t use flanks effectively enough. There were no fast counterattacks and dangerous set pieces. Eventually Fred eluded Antunes and opened the score.

After that Dynamo seized the initiative. Kryvtsov blocked the shot by Derlis Gonzalez. Anyway 80 minutes into the game Domagoj Vida headed the ball in after corner!

In the penalty shootout Shovkovskyi won two duels. So, it’s 4:3 on penalties and FC Dynamo Kyiv win their sixth Ukrainian Super Cup!
