On April 23 FC Dynamo Kyiv faced ACF Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the Europa League quarterfinals second leg.
There were two substitutions in the White-Blues starting lineup comparing with the game in Kyiv. Vida replaced suspended Dragovic and Belhanda featured instead of Sydorchuk.
Home side rushed towards visitors’ goal at once. Five minutes into the game Mario Gomez scored, but he was flagged offside.
Still Fiorentina kept creating chances and only Olexandr Shovkovskyi saved Kyivans in some episodes.
40 minutes into the game the situation became even more difficult for Serhiy Rebrov’s men. Lens eluded several opponents and fell in front of the penalty area. Referees decision was unexpected – yellow card for Jeremain, which became the second one for him in this match.
Three minutes later Joaquin found Gomez with a cross inside Dynamo box. It seemed that Mario tried to trap the ball, but didn’t manage to and accidentally scored…
Nothing changed rapidly after the break. The White-Blues couldn’t control the ball. Only late in the game Fiorentina keeper Neto got some work. He parried Rybalka’s shot from distance. Later Husiev didn’t manage to score after cross from the corner flag.
The Lilies netted the second in a stoppage time. Vargas eluded defenders and hit the far corner…
Anyway this euro cups season has given us a lot of good memories.
