FC Dynamo Kyiv faced FC Vorskla Poltava in the last UPL away match of the year. Weather conditions made the situation really complicated for Kyivans. All honour to Serhiy Rebrov’s men, who managed to recondition after the Europa League fixture against Rio Ave FC and achieve positive result!
Comparing with the previous game the White-Blues coaching staff made three substitutions in the starting lineup. Aleksandar Dragović took the place of Domagoj Vida, Miguel featured instead of Younes Belhanda and Dieumerci Mbokani – instead of Artem Kravets.
In the first half players opposed slippery turf first of all. There were few scoring chances. Dragović headed the ball in after free kick from Andriy Yarmolenko, but he was flagged offside.
After the break situation was different. Dynamo totally controlled the game.
53 minutes into the match Yarmolenko obtained the ball inside Vorskla penalty area after cross from Miguel and slight touch from Mbokani and hit the far bottom corner.
Following quarter of an hour was benefit performance of Mbokani. It took Congolese striker almost five months to recover from injury, but as he took the field he showed himself in the best light. 62 and 67 minutes into the game he netted the ball after assists from Danilo Silva and Andriy Yarmolenko.
Kyivans demonstrated great dedication while Vorskla didn’t actually create a single scoring chance.
This year Dynamo are still to play one more fixture in the UPL – against FC Metalurh Donetsk.

Dynamo: to recondition as soon as possible
Dynamo will oppose Vorskla less than in three days after the Europa League match against Rio Ave FC. Still such tight schedule is already usual for the White-Blues.
Serhiy Rebrov’s men have already played once in three days this season. In October Kyivans featured against FC Steaua București (3:1) and after that they defeated FC Shakhtar Donetsk (1:0).
This month they coped with Aalborg BK (2:0) and then drew against FC Karpaty Lviv (0:0).
On Thursday Dynamo were victorious over Rio Ave at the NSC Olimpiyskyi (2:0) and on Sunday they’ll perform against Vorskla. Of course it’s difficult for players, who participate in several competitions, to recondition quickly late in the first half of the season…
“We asked Vorskla to play the match on Monday, but they refused. No one asks for benefits, but one should realize that Dynamo fight for the honour of the country in euro cups and provide Ukraine national team with big number of performers. Regulations should allow euro cups participants to play their matches on Monday”, - shared Serhiy Rebrov his impressions of the situation.
Kyivans’ head coach can be optimistic as Dieumerci Mbokani has already recovered from injury.
Vorskla: over-the-top motivation
FC Vorskla Poltava started getting ready for the game against FC Dynamo Kyiv the following day after the match against FC Zoria Luhansk.
Surprisingly enough Poltava side defeated Zoria easily.
Current season can become really successful for the team. It’s quite possible for them to finish fourth in the Ukrainian Premier League..
At the moment Vasyl Sachko’s men have four victories, five draws and three defeats to their name with goal difference 13:8 (17 points, 6th place).
Several former Dynamo performers feature for Vorskla nowadays – goalkeeper Stanislav Bohush, defenders Serhiy Lohinov and Olexandr Romanchuk, midfielder Denys Dedechko and forward Oleh Mishchenko.
